Data API Terms
Last updated: June 11, 20261. Scope
These Data API Terms ("API Terms") govern access to and use of the ByteTrader Data API — the REST endpoints, SignalR streaming hubs, and webhook deliveries made available with an API key issued through your ByteTrader account (the "Service"), and all data delivered through them, including fundamentals, market events, and trade signals (collectively, the "Data"). These API Terms supplement the ByteTrader Terms of Service, which are incorporated by reference. If these API Terms conflict with the Terms of Service with respect to the Service, these API Terms control.
2. License Grant
Subject to your continued compliance with these API Terms and an active eligible subscription, ByteTrader grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to access the Service and to use the Data solely for your individual use or the internal business purposes of the legal entity that holds the subscription — including research, analysis, display within applications you operate for yourself or your organization, and operation of your own trading systems.
3. Restrictions
Except as expressly permitted in writing by ByteTrader, you may not:
resell, rent, lease, sublicense, or otherwise commercialize the Data or access to the Service;
redistribute, publish, or make the Data (or any substantially similar extraction of it) available to any third party, whether free or paid, including through your own API, data feed, file distribution, or public website;
use the Data to build, train, or populate a product or service that competes with the Service or substitutes for it;
perform bulk or systematic extraction of the Data beyond what your applications reasonably require, or circumvent rate limits, scopes, or other technical controls;
share API keys outside your account or embed keys in client-side code, public repositories, or distributed software;
remove or obscure any proprietary notices, or misrepresent the source of the Data.
Permitted work product. You may distribute your own analyses, research, charts, summaries, and other materials derived from the Data, provided they do not reproduce the Data in bulk and could not reasonably be used as a substitute for the Service.
4. Data Sources, Ownership & Accuracy
The Data consists of information computed, classified, and compiled by ByteTrader, including from public regulatory sources such as SEC EDGAR and FINRA publications, together with ByteTrader's own proprietary detections and signals. ByteTrader and its licensors retain all right, title, and interest in and to the Service and the Data compilation. No ownership rights are transferred to you.
The Data is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE." ByteTrader does not warrant that the Data is accurate, complete, timely, or error-free, and disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Filings may be parsed incorrectly, events may be delayed or missed, and computed figures may differ from issuer-reported or third-party figures.
5. Not Investment Advice
The Data — including trade signals, event classifications, and any scores or severities — is provided for informational purposes only. It does not constitute investment advice, a recommendation, an offer, or a solicitation to buy or sell any security or other instrument, and it is not tailored to any person's circumstances. ByteTrader is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or fiduciary. Trading involves substantial risk of loss. You are solely responsible for your investment decisions and should consult a qualified professional before acting on any Data.
6. API Keys & Security
API keys are issued to your account and are confidential credentials. You are responsible for all activity under your keys. You must notify ByteTrader and revoke a key promptly if you suspect it has been compromised. ByteTrader may rotate, suspend, or revoke keys at any time for security, non-payment, or violation of these API Terms.
7. Availability, Limits & Changes
The Service is subject to rate limits and fair-use controls, which may change. ByteTrader does not guarantee any particular availability, latency, or delivery of streamed events or webhooks, and may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any dataset, endpoint, or field with reasonable notice where practicable. Excessive or abusive load may result in throttling or suspension.
8. Termination & Survival
This license terminates automatically when your eligible subscription ends, when your keys are revoked, or upon violation of these API Terms. Upon termination you must stop accessing the Service; you may retain work product you lawfully created, but you may not continue to distribute the Data itself. Sections 3–5 and 9 survive termination.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ByteTrader will not be liable for any trading losses, lost profits, or indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the Service or the Data, and ByteTrader's aggregate liability relating to the Service is limited as set out in the Terms of Service.
10. Changes to These Terms
ByteTrader may update these API Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the portal or email, and the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. Questions: support@byte-trader.com.
